Another Patronizing Clown in Cameron’s Government

According to the UK Guardian newspaper, another politician has been stupid, patronizing, dismissive and offensive and this seems to be the major characteristic of Cameron’s government.

His comments on the Civil Society website* are “The important thing charities should be doing is sticking to their knitting and doing the best they can to promote their agenda, which should be about helping others.”

*See this page http://www.civilsociety.co.uk/ and see all the readers’ sensible and intelligent comments criticizing this idiotic, out of touch, sexist government minister.

This was the politician’s first speech since he took over the role of government minister for civil society (a misnomer and oxymoronic at the same time). This is not the sort of civil society that I particularly want to be a part of but it seems acceptable to our present government.

It seems that we are all expected to stay within our little boxes, even when the big bad wolf comes with a cudgel to batter our little boxes down, and say nothing like the good little people that Cameron’s government wants us all to be.

This is another example of inept (or even evil) politicians dividing our ‘Big’ society up into little pieces that have no meaning, no connection, no point, no power. Society is a whole but Cameron’s Clowns still see it as the ‘us’ and the ‘them’, like two football (or rugby) teams playing a game when we are all one. We are team UK not team North, team South, team With or team Without.

Our government-battered UK society needs charities to look after the negative issues that the government causes and look after the people who are badly affected by ill-considered government policies (pay cuts for the poor, reduced benefits, rising taxes for the less well-off, etc.) so what does our self-centred government do? It limits the charities potential to lobby our government (the group that is supposed to look after the people of this country) while at the same time allowing powerful, rich companies and institutions to lobby away because the charities have no money to offer the government while the large companies and the rich have an abundance of (our) money.

If our ‘Big’ government did their job properly then charities would not be needed in our two-tier society.

What clearer signal do we need that the government is corrupt and corrupting and looking after itself and the rich corporations of our once green and pleasant land? Cameron’s Big Society is simply made up of Big corporations and Big money. We little people simply do not count in his Big schemes.

Stick to your own knitting Brooks Newmark but don’t talk about it again. 2015 can’t come soon enough; don’t count on my vote.
